Leviticus 23:2
“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall
proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.”
Exodus 20:8 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
The Heavenly Father gave the
followers of Christ commandments to follow. One of them was to “remember the
Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” This commandment includes keeping all of his holy
days, which are Sabbaths (holy convocations), as they are written in the Bible
with the understanding that Jesus Christ brought.
Mark 7:9
“And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye
may keep your own tradition.”
In
today’s world, many people claim that they follow Christ but have rejected the
commandments of the Lord by keeping the traditions of America and the other
countries where they reside. By observing these celebrations, they are
breaking the commandments of the Heavenly Father and are committing the sin of
idolatry.
Exodus 20:3-5
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of
any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is
in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor
serve them:”
The history of Thanksgiving as it is
taught today in the United States and other countries is a lie. The true
origins of Thanksgiving date back to the Greek harvest festival called
Thesmophoria, in which they worshipped the Greek god of agriculture called
Demeter. It does not matter how they try to conceal it in this time. Those who
are celebrating Thanksgiving, are serving other gods, committing idolatry, and
not following the teachings of Christ.
Psalms 96:5 “For all the
gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.”
I Corinthians 10:20-21
“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to
devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with
devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot
be partakers of the Lord’s Table, and of the table of devils.”
Matthew 6:24 “No man can
serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else
he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
The Bible teaches that by keeping
the wicked traditions of men, you reject the commandments of the Lord. In other
words, keep the commandments and serve the Lord or reject the commandments and
observe pagan holidays like Thanksgiving.
Acts 5:29
“Then Peter and
the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
Leviticus 23:33-34
“And
the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 34 Speak unto the children of Israel,
saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of
tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.”
Leviticus 23:39-44
“Also
in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of
the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall
be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. 40 And ye shall take
you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the
boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the
LORD your God seven days. 41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven
days in the year.
It shall be a statute for ever in your generations:
ye shall celebrate it in the
seventh month. 42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are
Israelites born shall dwell in booths: 43 That your generations may know
that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out
of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. 44 And Moses declared unto
the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.”
The Heavenly Father commanded the
followers of Christ to keep the feast of ingathering and this was the only High
Holy Day that the Heavenly Father ordered us to keep concerning the harvest.
When reading the scriptures you will find that the Feast of Ingathering was also
known as the Feast of Tabernacles. During this time the Israelites were to keep
in mind how the Lord delivered the Children of Israel from the Egyptians and led
them through the wilderness to the Promised Land.
Exodus 13:21-22
“And the
LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and
by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: 22 He
took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night,
from before the people.”
I Corinthians 10:1-4
“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our
fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all
baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same
spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of
that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
This feast was symbolic of how
Christ led us to the Promised Land then and how he is leading us to the Kingdom
now, if we keep the commandments. By keeping the Feast of Tabernacles, we are
honoring the Heavenly Father. When we keep Thanksgiving and other pagan
holidays we are breaking the commandments of the Most High and he is not pleased
with us.
The duty of the Children of Israel
that have been scattered throughout this earth is to repent and follow the
commandments as Jesus Christ instructed us.
Jeremiah 10:2 “Thus saith the LORD, Learn
not the way of the heathen…”
Acts 17:29-30 “Forasmuch
then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is
like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 30 And the
times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every
where to repent:”
