Katrina Why?

By now most
people across the United States and the world have witnessed the horrific images
of the complete devastation and destruction that the hurricane left behind in
Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Many people are asking;
“Why are these
things happening to us?” The answer to this question can be found in the
Bible.
The entire world observed how the US government reacted slowly
in assisting the citizens of these states and are asking questions like, “Why
did the government take so long to help?” or “Why can’t they get more help?”
The real question that should be asked is:
Why did the Heavenly Father allow this to
happen?

New Orleans is a city that is
well known as a place where “anything goes.” Fornication, adultery,
homosexuality, sexual acts for beads, drugs, witchcraft, idolatry, revelry,
unclean foods, and all sorts of abominations and wicked acts are the things that
people go to this city to enjoy. Their annual Mardi Gras parade is a
celebration that promotes these evil deeds, worshipping of idols, and more.
Sodom and Gomorrah, Babylon, Egypt and the entire World were committing the same
types of iniquity when the Lord destroyed them.

Genesis 6:5-13
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in
the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the
earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will
destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast,
and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I
have made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in
his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begat three
sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth also was corrupt before
God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon
the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon
the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come
before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I
will destroy them with the earth.”
II Peter 2:5-9
“And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the
eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world
of the ungodly; 6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into
ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that
after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the
filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling
among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with
their unlawful deeds;) 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly
out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be
punished:”
Amos 3:6-7
“Shall a trumpet
be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a
city, and the LORD hath not done it?”
The
evil that is referred to in this scripture is destruction.
I
Samuel 2:6
“The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth
down to the grave, and bringeth up. 7 The LORD maketh poor, and
maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. 8 He raiseth up the
poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them
among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of
the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them. 9 He
will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness;
for by strength shall no man prevail. 10 The adversaries of the LORD
shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD
shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and
exalt the horn of his anointed.”
The Lord’s king is Jesus
Christ and his anointed are those that repent in the name of his son and follow
the commandments of the Bible.
Nahum 1:2-3
“God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious;
the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his
enemies. 3 The
LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the
wicked:
the LORD hath his way in
the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his
feet.”
Wisdom
of Solomon 5:17-23 “He
shall take to him his jealousy for complete armour, and make the creature his
weapon for the revenge of his enemies. 18: He shall put on righteousness as a
breastplate, and true judgment instead of an helmet. 19: He shall take holiness
for an invincible shield. 20: His severe wrath shall he sharpen for a sword, and
the world shall fight with him against the unwise. 21: Then shall the right
aiming thunderbolts go abroad; and from the clouds, as from a well drawn bow,
shall they fly to the mark. 22: And hailstones full of wrath shall be cast as
out of a stone bow, and the water of the sea shall rage against them, and the
floods shall cruelly drown them.
23: Yea, a mighty wind shall stand up
against them, and like a storm shall blow them away: thus iniquity shall lay
waste the whole earth, and ill dealing shall overthrow the thrones of the
mighty.”
Ecclesiasticus 39:28-29
“There be spirits that are created for vengeance, which in their fury lay on
sore strokes; in the time of destruction they pour out their force, and appease
the wrath of him that made them. 29: Fire, and hail, and famine, and death, all
these were created for vengeance”
Jeremiah
23:19-20
“Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury,
even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.
20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed,
and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye
shall consider it perfectly.”
We
are living in the “latter days” now. When we see the destruction and mighty
works of the Lord (storms, earthquakes, famine, death, etc.) we are supposed to
consider our ways, repent, and actually keep the commandments of the Bible as
Christ taught us to do.

Psalms 83:15
“So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.”
Luke 13:1-5
“There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans,
whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus
answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above
all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you,
Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 4 Or those
eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they
were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I
tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish”
Even
though these things happened to the people of Louisiana, Alabama, and
Mississippi, keep in mind that they were no different than any other sinners.
When things like this take place, they are a warning to the survivors and to all
that witness it that if people do not repent and start to live as the scriptures
instructs them to worse things will happen unto them. When you look at the
examples in the Bible, the Lord ALWAYS
delivered the just and righteous from the destruction but the wicked and the
sinners perished in their iniquity.
Ecclesiasticus
5:7
“Make no tarrying to turn to the Lord, and put not off from day
to day: for suddenly shall the wrath of the Lord come forth, and in thy security
thou shalt be destroyed, and perish in the day of vengeance.”
Acts
17:30
“And the times of
this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”
